Alissa Dabrowski
Long Island based actor, dancer, and singer.
About me:
I am from the small town of Laurel on the North Fork of Long Island. My hobbies include playing tennis, painting/drawing, and reading. I graduated from the University at Buffalo and hold a BFA in Theatre Performance. During my time there, I also completed a psychology minor because I strongly believe that a big part of acting is understanding our mind.
I am a versatile and physical performer with a passion for comedy. While I may shine brightly on stage, I additionally enjoy bringing characters to life on screen. My recent stage credits include HTC’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Vibrata), NFCT's Spamalot (Featured Dancer), and RFCT’s The Addams Family (Wednesday). I was also featured in the 48 Hour NYC Film Project last year as Mary in Storybook Productions' John and Mary.
My favorite role thus far is Melody in Bad Jews by Joshua Harmon. Although I may seem like your "girl next door" character, I trained in Meisner technique and have played dramatic roles such as Betty in Vinegar Tom by Caryl Churchill. You could also add Wednesday Addams to that list if you ignore the comedy surrounding her intense demeanor.
While not in the rehearsal room or on the stage, I work as an Educator at a process and creative arts studio for kids. Above all, I hope to inspire others.
I had the opportunity to have Alan Zweibel as a mentor in college while working on his play, Bunny, Bunny, with the Arts Collaboratory. I learned valuable collaboration skills, gained experience using aerial silks, and learned how to make a stop-motion video. This is when I realized that comedic acting is my passion and then proceeded to binge-watch SNL and I Love Lucy, making Gilda Radner and Lucille Ball my idols.
